Tata Steel wants to convert it's dull canteen spaces to interactive hubs facilitating interaction between peer groups to foster better team work and innovation. The design projects looks at converting these old structures into spaces which spur creativity and interaction. Spaces needed to be subdivided as per functional requirements but the subdivisions were kept as transparent as possible with glass partitions. Recreational spaces were carved out to allow for users to participate in group activities. The canteens were converted into modern industrial interaction silos with proper attention to character through materials, natural lighting and functionality. The project was dropped due to the cost of the project and just a simple makeover of individual canteens were taken up (painting and furniture change only).
