Project Name: DMM Library
Name of Client: Government of Jharkhand, Architect Vasant Dora
Type of project: Institutional
Location: Sakchi, Jamshedpur
Status : Proposed
The project was taken up under the wings of Architect Vasant Dora of Delhi. The project entailed designing of a public library for Jamshedpur with all modern amenities. The library would replace an erstwhile existing library (started almost 50 years ago). This library would not only boast of a modern public library but also offer commercial space and facilities for holding conference and delegate seminars. The building would be executed through JUIDCO (Jharkhand Government) on a PPP model whereing the commercial spaces would be leased to the Private investors for a certain period and then returned to the government, the revenue from these spaces contributing to the upkeep and management of the public facilities. The building was envisaged as a modern building, mirroring it's functional intent and act as a beacon in the otherwise drab skyline of Jamshedpur, attracting public with its various offerings under one roof.
The project was modified and scaled down completely and we were not involved in the second round of design / execution
