As part of the gesture to provide a homely, timely and humane experience to the cancer patients requiring palliative care, at MTMH, Suri Seva Foundation have helped develop the Pritpal Healing Garden at MTMH for nature assisted healing for the patients. The garden has been built on a narrow strip of land at the back of the MTMH building, previously usesd as a parking garage. The garden design and planning helps invite the patient into nature by maximizing the travel path through the garden and interaction with nature via raised planter beds, cascading water fountain and sit-outs in the open grass. A dedicated covered space was created for Yoga and meditation in the garden. The shed was clad with wooden batten false ceiling to give a more natural feel to the space. Lighting was kept to bare minimum so as to not cause glare or night sky pollution but providing enough light for the intended purpose. Direct and secured access was planned from the Palliative ward to the healing garden, which shall be available exclusively for the Palliative care patients.
