The project aims to provide a young, vibrant and inviting centre for the group dealing with developing usage of Iron Powder (a by product of the iron making process) as a useful product in industrial application like industrial grinding and cutting industry.
The project comprises of two distinct parts namely the office and lab spaces and the industrial shop-floor area. The industrial area is a double height linear area having various machines and tools which aid the development, monitoring and miniaturizing the process of developing the iron powder. This main area is supported by huge labs, which help fine tune the experiments and push better results. The office spaces would house the entire team and their managers.
A huge double height space welcomes the office user and visitor alike and also serves as an interaction space for showcasing the product and it's usability to probably clients. The space has been treated as an oasis in the middle of the industrial regime of Tata Steel. Sporting many green areas interspersed with seating, the area tries to bring fore the soothing effect of greenery in an industrial setup. The building would be a PEB (Pre-Engineered Building), with custom facade treatment. Undulating metal perforated sheets have been proposed as the choice of facade. It resonated with the Tata Steel "metal" image and also provides an interesting, dynamic facade, providing shading as well as access to diffused sunlight through the mesh.
The design has been approved and is awaiting budgetary approval to move ahead.
