A noble initiative was taken up by Suri Seva Foundation, under the able guidance of Mr. H.Suri and Mr. Kulvin Suri (Chief, Corporate Communication TSL) to set up a modern state of the art Palliative care ward and dedicated garden at MTMH Cancer Hospital at Jamshedpur. This ward would cater to the cancer patients requiring palliative (end stage) care. The facility would come up in an existing, old hospital therefore required civil modifications and also restrictions. The wards and cabins were designed with an intent to provide a comfortable and warm ambience for patients, since this might be the last facility they would visit in their lives. The interior colour scheme, ambience and lighting were designed to optimize the humane caring that these patients would require. Care was also taken to provide comfortable facilities to the caregivers of these patients who would stay and take care of the patients 24 X 7. Coupled with the healing garden this facility would provide a "last home" feel to the patient and try and minimize their suffering.
